Happy birthday to me!

Yay! My birthday present from Mr. Zombie!

This is what was waiting for me by the all-ready-to-go coffee machine this morning (from the mister, of course). Yay, zombies! Yay, coffee!

Ah, I see you noticed the table cloth! My Grandmother stitched it and added the crocheted trim. I do iron it, I swear! We roll/fold/flick it out of the way when we sit down to eat so it doesn't get dirty but it wrinkles really easily. Since it's my birthday and stuff, I'm not doing any chores today.

And I'm also going to blather on about birds! (Not that I don't do that anyway but it's my birthday so I have an excuse.)

Fledgling Crows
Nap time for baby crows!

I spent about an hour this morning watching the cutest lil' fledgling crows! I knew there was a crow's nest in the tree outside our apartment but I thought it was vacant this year because didn't see any activity at all. I guess the parents were just being sneaky though, because omg-baby-crows! I counted four babies hopping around on the branches and saw one of them actually fly. The cutest thing was the nap time though, with their lil' baby heads tucked in. Squee!

Fledgling Crows
Three are lined up on one branch, and the fourth is sitting on one a bit lower.

    1. Thanks for the birthday wishes! And I hadn't before this spring either. These would have been my first except I got to see some at Wild ARC.

  4. Happy Birthday! I hope it's a great day, filled with lots of birds. (Reifel Bird Sanctuary (http://www.reifelbirdsanctuary.com/) has a baby Sandhill Crane. It hatched May 20th. Pretty cute. I wouldn't recommend going today in the pouring rain, but check it out sometime.

    1. Thanks! I just checked out the website and it looks really interesting. I'd love to go but I live on Vancouver Island and have only made it over to mainland BC once so far. It's on my list of places I'd like to visit though, so thanks!
